We ask that children under 18 do not send us personal data through this website. If a child has sent us information without that consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
We also collect a little information about how the website is used, through cookies (see below).
Who is collecting data
The data controller for this website and for your stay is The Pharaoh’s Hotel, Dame Omeje Drive, Enugu, Nigeria. You can contact us about your personal data at thepharaohshotelenugu@gmail.com or by post at that address.
How we will use this information
We will use this information for the following purposes:
- Performing our service to you: answering your request or message, managing your reservation and your stay, taking payment at the hotel, and catering to your requests, in response to the contract you are asking us for or have with us.
- Improving our services: assessing how the hotel, its restaurant and its other outlets serve guests, and how this website works.
- Recruitment: considering you for the job you applied for. By sending an application you give us permission to process your data as part of the recruitment process.
- Compliance with legal obligations: complying with applicable laws, such as data protection law, the prevention of fraud or money laundering, police investigations and tourism regulations.
- Keeping the website secure and working, which is our legitimate interest in running it safely.
This notice is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and its regulations. We rely on the lawful basis that fits each purpose above: the contract you ask us for, a legal obligation, our legitimate interest, or your consent.
Marketing
We do not send marketing messages to people who have used the forms on this website, and we do not sell personal data. If we wish to send you information about the hotel in future, we will ask for your consent first. You have the right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes, and every such message will say how.
How data is stored and with whom it could be shared
What you send through a form on this website is saved in the hotel's own database on our website hosting, where only authorised hotel staff can read it, and is emailed to the hotel's front desk (or, for a job application, to the hotel's human resources team) so that we can reply to you. A CV is kept in a private part of the server that cannot be reached from the internet. Other records are kept on paper and on the hotel's own systems.
We will only share your information with third parties when:
- it is necessary to perform the service you have asked us for (for example with the companies that host this website and deliver our email);
- you have agreed to it; or
- the law or a regulation requires it (for example a court, a regulatory authority or a government body).
Our website hosting and email providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred to a country with a lower level of data protection, we will only transfer it if appropriate safeguards are in place and your rights remain enforceable. If you choose to load the map on this website, or follow a link to Google Maps, to one of our social media pages or to a booking site, that service receives the information your browser sends it.
When we share your information we take all reasonable steps to ensure that it is protected in line with the law.
How long we keep your information is decided by:
- Reasonable business needs: for as long as we are answering you, providing services to you or managing our relationship with you;
- Reasonable statutory periods: for as long as someone could bring a claim against us, or as we need to meet our tax and legal obligations; and
- Recruitment: a job application and its CV are kept for as long as the hiring for that job takes, and are then deleted unless we have agreed with you to keep them.
Data breach
If the confidentiality, integrity or availability of personal data we hold is compromised, we will comply with the requirements of the law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Our action will be in proportion to the harm the exposure could cause. This could include notifying you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, with:
- a description of what has occurred;
- the kinds of information concerned; and
- the next steps you should take in response.
Whenever we learn of a breach we will assess the circumstances without delay, contain the incident as quickly as possible, and notify the regulator and the people affected within the time the law requires.
Your rights and how to exercise them
You have the right to decide how we use your data and to object to our processing of it at any time. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of what was done before you withdrew it.
You have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, for it to be corrected or erased, or for its processing to be restricted. You also have the right to receive the personal data you gave us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and to have it sent to another data controller where that is technically feasible.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or with the data protection authority where you live.
To exercise your rights, contact us at thepharaohshotelenugu@gmail.com. We may ask for proof of your identity before making any changes.
